And in the end . . .
Forty years ago, on August 29, 1966, the Beatles came to the Bay Area on the last day of their 1966 concert tour. Though it was in their minds, no one knew that this concert would be a historic occasion. It was after this concert that The Beatles announced that they would quit touring and concentrate on studio recordings, starting a period in their careers which would forever shape the landscape of popular music for generations to come.
And so, August 29, 1966 would be the final public concert for the most popular band in the history of music.
They were never going in and out of style, but always guaranteed to raise a smile . . .

Now, on August 26-27, 2006, Bay Area Film Events and the Castro Theatre present a 40th anniversary appreciation of those FAB days of Beatlemania! Join BAFE for two days of Beatles films, guests, memorabilia and music! Guests are being contacted now and will be announced soon! A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
The local appeal of this anniversary in particular is certain to garner plenty of publicity and excitement as we work to bring the community together at the Castro as a focal point of what we hope to be a city-wide, and even region-wide, Beatles celebration!
Celebrate with a hard day’s night worth of music, movies and fun!

Drew Harrison will

provide everyone in the audience with a little Instant Karma!

Drew Harrison is a genuine troubadour.
Born in New York City, naturally drawn to music, his childhood
nursery rhyme was Dear Prudence and his adolescent superheroes:
Stevie Wonder, Elton John and John Lennon.
His plans of becoming a brain surgeon were usurped by dreams of
being a rock star and making a difference, in the footsteps of
Lennon. His first serious original group was New Religion. His
next original group was TED302, a local San Francisco band that
put out the CD "The Honesty Convention". "It was a great group
and we worked our asses off, trying to make it. Along with music
he took an interest in acting, becoming involved in theatre and
film.
He currently performs solo in the Bay Area, and also with The
Sun Kings, a Beatles musical tribute (and wouldn’t you know it –
singing Lennon) while finishing up a degree at UC Berkeley. His
CD "Go It Alone" is a result of an intense period, filled with
rawness and emotion. It’s just his voice and acoustic guitar,
baring his soul lyrically and vocally. He has the ability to
translate the comedies and tragedies of life into a warm amalgam
of sounds. A seamless transition between rock, folk and blues,
his music is intense and sincere.
